Bay Harbor Lawsuit 10-5-10

I have just read a great deal of the lawsuit that my ol buddy Art has had going on for some time now. Many are no doubt familiar with Bay Harbor, Michigan, a tony little community of McMansions nestled on Lake Michigan just north of Petosky. Art owns one of the smaller McMansions there.  He bought it around 1997 or '98. The lawsuit and the appeals encompass thousands of pages. Here is the summary.  Some nice people had the home built.  They sold it to Art. Long after they sold it, a big storm arose and a drainage system failed and backed up. The house flooded. Imagine a big storm flooding a house built on Lake Michigan...I'll bet no one ever saw that coming! Art sued everybody.  The builder (whose building expertise he used to brag to me about) the former owners, and others.  He won a judgment from the homeowners. They appealed.  Art prevailed. Their lives are ruined.  Art is fine. I for one have learned a lesson from all of this...I will never sell a house to Art!
