It quickly became quite obvious that neither Patti nor Jim was going to ask the other out within the next 5 years. I needed to speed things up. So I asked Jim out. I asked him to accompany me and a date to a local restaurant. He readily accepted. Then I asked Patti out. I explained that three of us were going to dinner and I did not wish to feel like a "third wheel." Patti laughed and accepted. The dinner was to be four days hence. In the interim, I coached Patti on manners. I begged her not to eat off of other people's plates. I told her that I was buying, and asked to order the Surf and Turf, but pretend she couldn't eat it upon it's arrival at the table...at which point I would gallantly eat it for her. She laughed even harder and agreed with a wink. If Patti did end up eating something, I cautioned her not to spit it on the floor if she found it distasteful while yelling out "What is this CRAP?!" Jim and Patti both arrived at the restaurant independent of each other but on time. To be cont....
On their second date.
