Art Van's Sales Struggle 5-11-11

Perhaps you have read the news about GM. It made national headlines today. They have retained or added 4000 new jobs! Not only that, 80 were in Michigan! That's right, a whopping 80...in Flint and Bay City. Wow. Good thing GM is making a huge profit again. Just wish they would spend it in Michigan...but they won't, you'll see. It's all going overseas or to any non-union state. Speaking of non-union, Art Van Furniture got a nice write-up today. My ol' buddy bought out yet another failing mattress chain. Some of the stores are in Indiana. Mark predicts: It won't be long before he closes those. Art doesn't do very well with a level playing field, and while he's been bombarding Michigan residents with deceptive ads for 52 years, nobody in Indiana has heard of him. Ol' Art will just wait for the leases to expire and quietly shut all seven Indiana stores down in about a year. Speaking of down, the very end of the article had some very bad news for the Artster. '09 sales are an estimated 385 million...remember when sales were 550 million?...I sure do. I'll wager 2010 was a DISASTER. Click here, and scroll to the end of the article.
