Art Van is starting at the bottom 6-11-11

Just when I thought my old buddy Art could not sink any lower, he did. He is going to sell carpet and flooring out of all his stores. This magical showroom within a showroom concept (his words... most truthful people would just call it a department) is so revolutionary...um, actually Home Depot and Lowes have been doing this for 20 years, I guess it's not all that revolutionary. Allow me to pose a question. If I had a chain of furniture stores, and people were jamming the parking lot and rushing into each store as soon as it opened to buy my sofas and chair and tables, why would I give up a single inch of floor space? I would display as much furniture, in as many different combinations, as I possibly could! That's what ol Art used to do. I would NOT distract them with choices of carpeting and tile, because they wouldn't buy my cheap, imported furniture until they laid their new flooring down! I would not do this unless, of course, my furniture sales were TANKING!
