Don't tell me it's blue when it's gray 5-25-11
You may have read that Dave Bing is the new mayor of Detroit. He used to play basketball for the Detroit Pistons. Mr. Bing also had a successful business until he sold it and it er...ahh...well...went bankrupt. Nevertheless, he is an honest man with the best of intentions for "turning around" the city of Detroit, which, let's face it, is a lost cause. The phrase that most aptly describes Mr. Bing's job is that he is in charge of "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic." Compared to the last mayor, Mr. Bing is one incredibly honest man...until today. I just read an article that Detroit is the second most violent city in the United States...after Flint, Michigan. In the article, Mr. Bing is quoted as saying "The data shows that we are making Detroit a safer city..." Oh pullleeeaase! It does not! Murders are down a little only because there are far less people to murder! Everyone else is leaving or already dead! For the entire article, click here.
