Florida Summer Rains 6-28-11

Once again, although a little belatedly, the rainy season has come to Sarasota. According to long-time residents, it normally clouds up, starting in June, between 2:30 on 3:30 every day and we have some heavy rain. The deluge seldom lasts for more than an hour. It is pouring outside as I write this right now. Anything south of Tampa is supposed to be a sub-tropical climate, and in spite of a very dry first half of the year, I knew something had to happen soon to sustain all of the palm trees around here. The only down side is the accompanying thunder. My dog has become a little jumpy in her old age, and is trying to cram her 90 pound carcass beneath my desk for solace. If I were a double amputee this would not be much of an issue, but I am not and it is.
