Sarasota Florida has simply got to be the most dog friendly city I have ever visited or lived in. Art Van hates dogs. He was bitten by a German Shepard when he was a boy delivering newspapers. If a dog bit him now, I worry that the poor pup would begin to grow another face until he was as two-faced as the guy he bit. I am crazy about dogs, but the one I have takes up a lot of my free time. We often dine together...actually she waits patiently at my feet hoping I will suddenly keel over and fling my dinner on the floor. Most of the outdoor restaurants bring my friend a bowl of water...many put ice in it...and some are even good about refills. After dinner, it is our custom to go home and watch animal planet, unless we go to the park that looks out over Sarasota Bay and watch the ships pass.
